Learn Japanese from anime in 5 minutes He's 1/4 Japanese, 1/8 Korean, 1/8 Filipino, 1/4 Dutch, 1/4 Irish (with Chinese and Hawaiian in there somewhere. Lives in Poland, Oregon and started learning Japanese from High School because he wants to connect to his heritage.
何で日本語を話す?(why do you speak in japanese)(completely in Japanese...) - The part is around 1:00 when he starts giving advice to other people who are learning Japanese and the one at 1:00 is to learn from "ordinary people"
03:38 He's talkin' about ecchi anime or hentai etc... lol I don't like that kind of anime.
(check out his other videos too if you feel like it... they're pretty funny, the earlier ones definitely are anyways)
I'm going to just post most of this humorous something that I found somewhere, I cut out some parts out cause not it's not that relevant or not that funny or sorta offensive. By all means, it's a joke to a large extent but there is some truth behind it. I just found some of it hilarious and wanted to share for the sake of your amusement.
SO YOU WANT TO LEARN JAPANESE? So you head down to the library, pick up some books with titles like "How To Teach Yourself Japanes In Just 5 Seconds A Day While Driving Your Car To And From The Post Office". Hey, you already know a few words from your manga collection/anime. Excited and impressed with your new knowledge, you begin to think: "Hey. Maybe, just maybe, i could do this for a living! Or even major in Japanese! Great Idea, Right? WRONG I don't care how many anime shows you've watched, or books you've read, You don't know Japanese. Not only that, majoring in the godforsaken language is NOT fun or even remotely sensible. Iraqi war prisoners are often forced to major in Japanese. The term "Holocaust" comes from the Latin roots "Holi" and "Causm", meaning "to major in Japanese". You get the idea.
This should be an obvious. Despite what many language books, friends, or online tutorials may have told you, Japanese is NOT simple, easy, or even sensical (Japanese vocabulary is determined by throwing tiny pieces of sushi at a dart board with several random syllables attached to it). The Japanese spread rumors to draw foolish Gaijin(foreigners) into their clutches. Not only is it not simple, it's probably one of the hardest languages you could ever want to learn. With THREE completely different written languages (none of which make sense), multitude of useless, confusing politeness levels, and absolutely insane grammatical structure, Japanese has been crushing the souls of the pathetic Gaijin since it's conception. Let's go over some of these elements mentioned above so you can get a better idea of what I mean.
The Japanese Writing System The Japanese writing system is broken down into three separate, complete, and insane, parts: Hiragana ("those squiggly letters"), Katakana ("those boxy letters") and Kanji ("roughly 4 million embodiments of your worst nightmares").The combination of thousands of Chinese characters, each with at least two and sometimes as many as thirty pronunciations, two syllabaries that combine in a variety of complex ways with the Chinese characters, and the occasional use of the Roman alphabet (just because things weren’t already messy enough), makes for an orthographic calamity.
Hiragana is used to spell out Japanese words using syllables. It consists of many letters, all of which look completely different and bear absolutely no resemblance to each other whatsoever. The prince who invented these characters, Yorimushi was promptly bludgeoned to death. But don't worry, because you'll hardly use Hiragana in "real life".
Katakana are used only to spell out foreign words in a thick, crippling Japanese accent, so that you'll have no idea what you're saying even though it's in English. However, if you remember one simple rule for Katakana, you'll find reading Japanese much easier: Whenever something is written in Katakana, it's an English word! (note: Katakana is also used for non-English foreign words. And sound effects, and Japanese words). Katakana all look exactly the same, and it's impossible, even for Japanese people, to tell them apart. No need to worry, because you'll hardly ever have to read Katakana in "real life".
Kanji are letters that were stolen from China. Every time the Japanese invaded China (which was very often) they'd just take a few more letters, so now they have an estimated 400 gazillion of them. Kanji each consists of several "strokes", which must be written in a specific order, and convey a specific meaning, like "horse", or "girl". Not only that, but Kanji can combined to form new words. For example, if you combine the Kanji for "small", and "woman", you get the word "carburetor". Kanji also have different pronunciations depending on where they are in the word, how old you are, and what day it is. When European settlers first came upon Japan, the Japanese scholars suggested that Europe adopt the Japanese written language as a "universal" language understood by all parties. This was the cause of World War 2 several years later. Don't worry, however, since you'll never have to use kanji in "real life", since most Japanese gave up on reading a long, long time ago, and now spend most of their time playing Pokemon.
Politeness Levels Politeness Levels have their root in an ancient Japanese tradition of absolute obedience and conformity, a social caste system, and complete respect for arbitrary heirarchical authority, which many American companies believe will be very helpful when applied as managerial techniques. They're right, of course, but no one is very happy about it. Depending on who you are speaking to your politeness level will be very different. Politeness depends on many things, such as age of the speaker, age of the person being spoken to, time of day, zodiac sign, blood type, sex, whether they are Grass or Rock Pokemon type, color of pants, and so on. For an example of Politness Levels in action, see the example below.
Japanese Teacher: Good morning, Harry. Harry: Good Morning. Japanese Classmates: (gasps of horror and shock) The bottom line is that Politeness Levels are completely beyond your understanding, so don't even try. Just resign yourself to talking like a little girl for the rest of your life and hope to God that no one beats you up.
Grammatical Structure The Japanese have what could be called an "interesting" grammatical structure, but could also be called "confusing", "random", "bogus" or "evil". To truly understand this, let's examine the differences between Japanese and English grammar.
English Sentence: Nate went to the school.
Same Sentence In Japanese: School Nate To Went
Japanese grammar is not for the faint of heart or weak of mind. What's more, the Japanese also do not have any words for "me", "them", "him, or "her" that anyone could use without being incredibly insulting (the Japanese word for "you", for example). Because of this, the sentence "He just killed her!" and "I just killed her!" sound exactly the same, meaning that most people in Japan have no idea what is going on around them at any given moment. You are supposed to figure these things out from the "context", which is a German word meaning "you're screwed".
As if learning the language wasn't hard enough, Japanese classes in America tend to attract the kind of student who makes you wish that a large comet would strike the earth. There are a few basic type of students that you'll always find yourself running into. These include The Anime Freak, The Know It All, and the Deer Caught In Headlights.
The Anime Freak is probably the most common, and one of the most annoying. You can usually spot a few warning signs to let you identify them before it's too late: they wear the same exact Evangelion shirt every day, they have more than one anime key chain on their person, they wear glasses, they say phrases in Japanese that hey obviously don't understand (such as "Yes! I will never forgive you!"), they refer to you as "-chan", make obscure Japanese culture references during class, and usually fail class. You have to be extremely careful not to let them smell pity or fear on you, because if they do they will immeadiately latch onto you and suck up both your time and patience, leaving only a lifeless husk. Desperate for human companionship, they will invite you to club meetings, anime showings, conventions, and all other sorts of various things you don't care about.
The Know It All typically has a Japanese girlfriend or boyfriend, and because of this "inside source" on Japanese culture, has suddenly become an academic expert on all things Japanese, without ever having read a single book on Japan in their entire lives. You can usually spot Know It All's by keeping an eye out for these warning signs: a cocky smile, answering more than their share of questions, getting most questions wrong, questioning the teacher on various subjects and then arguing about the answers (a typical exchange: Student: What does "ohayoo" mean?,Teacher: It means "good morning", Student: That's not what my girlfriend said...), being wrong, talking alot about Japanese food and being wrong, giving long, unnecessarily detailed answers which are wrong, and failing class.
The Deer Caught In headlights are those students who took Japanese because either a.) they thought it sounded like fun, b.) they thought it would be easy, or c.) they just need a couple more credits to graduate. These students wear a mask of terror and panic form the moment they walk into class till the moment they leave, because all they can hear inside their head is the high pitched scream their future is making as it is flushed down the toilet. They are usually failing.
Although many of Japanese-language students are smart, funny, hard working people, none of them will be in your class. If you can get past the difficulty, society, and classmates, you will probably find Japanese to be a fun, rewarding language to learn. We wouldn't know, however, since no one has ever gotten that far. But hey, I'm sure you’re different.
Author's Note: This whole essay, although sprinkled with truisms here and there, is a joke and should be taken like one. I'm actually a Japanese major myself, and even if I've given it a bit of a hard time, I love the Japanese language, and I think everyone should give it a try. You should just be ready for a whole lot of pain.
Her name's Emily and she says she speaks fluent Japanese(but she doesn't, trust...). From her introduction video and other videos, she started learning because she really liked anime and then got into Japanese music and I think she said that she doesn't like anime that much anymore but still likes it apparently since she went a convention. Well she's not 12 anymore, she's like 19 now and she learned by herself since she was 12.
not fluent. it bugs me too. I mean it wouldn't if she didn't say and play it like she's fluent. like someone said elsewhere, her tactic is to repeat the same very simple incomplete sentences strung together with "ano...". talking as fast as you can without stopping does not make you fluent. it works to a degree though, I mean her fans and whatnot are just being too ignorant to detect it, or they didn't realize she says she's fluent in the first place.
as for her accent, the said person who posted elsewhere said her accent is foreign and intonations are off. I think they are too, I mean it's ridiculous - she's not talking like a regular person, she's doing an imitation of japanese people. there's a difference, and it's painful to watch.
But as far as her methods in learning she learned by herself since her school only teaches spanish. She doesn't really know spanish all that well forgot everything of course...
明けましておめでとう!!(Happy New Year's) Just talks about her life ilke how she wants to go to school, that's it's a new year,
She's made a couple videos about how she wants to become a singer or wants to become a college student in Japanand whatnot but anyways here's one about singing. She starts singing at 3:20 she starts singing, of course she says sorry if I'm bad. Personally, don't think she's that great... (she sings in Japanese of course, I've never heard of this song of course)
-Sings in English Sounds better (actually sorta good??)anyways cause the one sounded really bad to me. well she's sorta over the top so I'm just uh...
Other peeople and their japanese, 自己紹介♪ (Self-introduction)
This is Carolyn and she said she got interest around middle scohol and how she made japanese friends and that learning through mediums like drama and music is the best way cause it's fun or whatever. she's self-study toooooo.
This is kemushichan, i think she learned it through college and her chinese sounds pretty goood 2.

Perfect Girl Evoultion or also known as The Wallflower
4 handsome guys get to live in a gorgeous, large mansion for free. There’s only one catch: Turn the land lady’s niece into a “lady”. Soon the boys find out this is no easy task, Sunako, the girl in question, is a gothic, horror movie freak who looks like Sadako from The Ring. The boys now must start the grueling task of turning the gore-loving girl into a “lady”.
Volumes so far: 16
Number of Anime Episodes- 25
Genre- Comedy, Shoujo
Characters
Sunako Nakahara
After she was rejected by her first love, Sunako developed an obsession with darkness and a morbid fascination with blood, horror movies, and similarly dark things. She hates excessive light exposure. She has three "friends"; a skeleton called Josephine and two anatomical figures named Hiroshi-kun and Akira-kun. While she suffers from severely low self-esteem, she is actually beautiful and a frighteningly tough fighter. She is portrayed (mostly) throughout the manga in Super deformed form or chibi. Somewhat surprisingly, she is a very good cook, very athletic, intelligent (save that she is abysmally bad at math) and a good pianist. She refers to beautiful people as "creatures of light" and "ugly" people, such as herself, as "creatures of darkness", in the translation in America. Whenever she sees a "creature of light", she gets nosebleeds, and they're usually severe when she sees Kyohei.
Her relationship with Kyohei is somewhat unclear, saying that she always wants to kill him, and even goes to the extent of turning into a lady temporarily to get him back. Her reason is that "she's the only person who can kill him". Some people say that she has a crush on him, but it might be that he is too beautiful for her to handle, so she "must get rid of him".
Kyohei Takano
While he says that all he cares about is getting free (or the lowest amount required to be paid) rent, Kyohei has a soft spot for Sunako and empathizes with her more so than the others. He is the most popular of the boys, and always has trouble keeping down a part-time job because his fans will chase after him, or his boss (male or female) will sexually harass him. Kyohei is cocky, short-tempered, and the only one tough enough to fight on the same level as Sunako. His hair is modeled after Tackey of Tackey and Tsubasa. He also tends to succumb to food and money.
Takenaga Oda
The most intellectual of the four, Takenaga is called the "Boss" (a pun on his personal name in Japanese, which can be read as bucho, meaning "boss") by his friends and is the least fazed by Sunako's morbid habits. When the quartet dress Sunako up, Takenaga is usually responsible for doing Sunako's hair. Takenaga was originally from a wealthy family descended from flower masters (ikebana), but when the pressure of being the family heir was too much, he became completely withdrawn and ignored everyone. He was sent to live at the Landlady's mansion in hopes of becoming more "normal". He is described as a caring feminist and is rather shy. He is currently going out with Noi, whom he affectionately calls "Noi-chi".
Yukinojo "Yuki" Toyama
The most androgynous of the four, "Yuki" is gentle and is initially the most frightened of Sunako. He's the most "normal" of the four boys; before coming to live at the mansion he had a normal school life with a middle-class family. His mother and the Landlady are old friends and the Landlady, and Sunako at times, has a soft spot for Yuki. He's also the shortest and shyest, with a "cute" face, and has been called on (very reluctantly) to dress up as a girl on more than one occasion. He is usually responsible for choosing what sort of clothes Sunako wears when she is forced to dress up and has a good sense of fashion. Yuki has an on-again, off-again girlfriend named Machiko, who attends the all-girl high school next to his (she is based on the mangaka Machiko Sakurai, one of Hayakawa's colleagues).
Ranmaru Morii
A ladies' man, Ranmaru is often going out with various beautiful older (and often married) women. The very sight of Sunako initially has him breaking out in hives, but when her true beauty is revealed, he decides that she has "potential" to become a real lady. Like Takenaga, he comes from a wealthy family (who own a series of hotel chains), but was sent to live with the Landlady because he exploited his wealth and his parents wanted him to become "normal". Surprisingly, Ranmaru is actually better at kendo than Takenaga, who comes from a traditional family. He apparently is the strongest advocate of making Sunako into a lady and is usually responsible for doing her make-up whenever she has to dress up. He is named after the real life Mori Ranmaru, the partner of Oda Nobunaga.
Naie "Noi" Kasahara
A very pretty and exceedingly popular girl. She loves being called beautiful by the others, especially Sunako. Noi is Sunako's closest friend at school, where Sunako is scorned for her terrifying demeanor and association with the boys. She admires Sunako's tough attitude and also believes that Sunako and Kyohei are compatible as a couple. Noi is in love with Takenaga, though she tends to be insecure about their relationship because Takenaga is too shy to openly admit that he likes her.
Beauty Pop
In Kiri's school there are 3 boys who carry out transformations on random pretty girls; Narumi Shougo, the hairstylist, Minami Kei, the nail artist and Ochiai Kazuhiko who balances the overall look. They are adored by the girls because they are so good at making them beautiful. However, Kiri is also a master hairstylist who is willing to 'add some magic' for those who need it, but in disguise. Now Kiri is forced to face the three in a showdown with Narumi.
Characters
Kiri Koshiba
A gifted stylist with no interest in pursuing fame with her talent. Kiri will occasionally give makeovers to girls having certain problems. Kiri tends to have a nonchalant attitude that gets on Narumi's nerves. Her hairstyle annoys him, as well - she wears it in a layer bob (that she gave to herself when she gave up on being a hairstylist), leading him to nickname her "Puffy Head" or "Mussy Head". In the beginning, Kiri and Narumi had a bad start off but she seems to start liking Narumi when he saves Shampoo in volume 3. Her family owns a beauty salon, and she has a cat named Shampoo, though she used to have a dog when she was younger. Kiri is the young girl that Narumi lost to in 4th grade. The reason she didn't compete the next year was a rule that required participants to draw a sketch of their hairstyle, and Kiri is abysmal at drawing. Kiri usually says the phrase, "I'll help you add a little magic", when she uses her skills to help someone.
Kanako Aoyama
A friend of Kiri's who admires her talents. Kanako tends to be shy and bookish. When she was rejected by Kazuhiko Ochiai, Kiri gave her a makeover to teach the Scissors Project a lesson. Kanako still likes Ochiai, but she found out that Ochiai likes Kiri, so she doesn't know what to do.
Taro Komastu
Kiri's childhood friend and neighbor. Kiri calls him "Komattaro" or "Taro-Tard", which annoys him very much. Taro is a big fan of the Scissors Project and wants to be a beautician because of them even though he lacks the skill. He works part-time at his family's store, the Komatsu 88 yen store.
Shampoo
Kiri's fat pet cat. Shampoo was first a stray who would not trust anyone, having a bad past. When she met Kiri she scratched her hand but then realized that Kiri was not like the others, so Shampoo shed tears and was taken home by Kiri.
Iori Minamoto
Kiri's childhood friend who recently moved back to Japan from New York. His father specializes in making aromatherapy oils and perfumes. He is apparently in love with Kiri's mom. Iori first appears in volume 2.
Seiji Koshiba
Kiri's father owns the Koshiba Beauty Salon and was the one to train Kiri in the art of hairstyling. Seiji used to be an idol among hairstylists in his generation and he always defeated Shogo Narumi's father in competitions. Kiri looked up to her father when she was younger and she wanted to cut hair like him, so Kiri gained the speed cutting skills from her dad.
Emi Koshiba
Her mother is a famous special effects makeup artist in Hollywood. Even after a long distance, the marriage never backfired and the two kept in contact through email.
Kenichiro Seki
Kiri's childhood friend. He is part of the Seki Clinic and is regarded highly by his customers. He helps Kiri regain her composure in a tight spot (vol.4) and is like an older brother to her. Though seemingly unimportant, he seems to pop-up a lot.
Chisami Narumi
Shogo's cute little sister, who Kiri indifferently "saves" one day when her hair was tangled in a bush. Because of this, Chisami seems to think that Kiri is her "Prince Charming" (as she had mistaken her for a boy), only she doesn't really know that the "boy" is Kiri until later in the series. Even though she knows Kiri is a girl, she still admires her.
Shogo Narumi
The only son and heir to the Salon de Narumi. Narumi seems to hate his father and wants to be the best in Japan. He is a talented hairstylist that has won every competition except for the contest in fourth grade where he lost to a mysterious, cute third grade girl (who was actually Kiri). After which he then, unable to admit defeat, steals her doll. Narumi has never been able to forget that incident and vows for revenge. He often loses his cool around Kiri. He is called Naru-Naru (or Naru-Naru sempai in one part) by both Kiri and Kei. He often doesn't get along well with girls, therefore when he encounters girls he often yells or runs away. Narumi is allergic to girls (except for Kiri) because his sister and mother always touched him as a child thus he now gets rashes whenever touched by a girl.
Kei Minami
The member of the Scissors Project that does nail art. Kei is playful and is often seen eating junk food and candy. Kei likes to come up with nicknames for his friends like 'Naru-Naru' and 'Narurin' for Narumi while he calls Ochiai 'Occhi'. He also serves as emcee for any Scissors Project event, announcing the model and occasionally commenting while Narumi cuts. He hardly ever wears his school uniform and often wears a visor sideways on his head. It is later shown that Kei is not good at spelling, he got a "5%" on his spelling test. This is why, one time, a Scissor Project's project on one girl failed, because he spelled Komasu incorrectly. Kei is actually very mysterious and he doesn't reveal much about himself.
Kazuhiko Ochiai
The overall beauty consultant of the group. He is the brains behind the operation and acts like a human computer, with "data" on every girl in the school. He's at the top of his class. He also used to have a rather "old-man" hairstyle until he meets Narumi who then gives Ochiai his current Hairstyle. Ochiai loves to mess with Narumi and is often scheming. Later on in the story it seems that he develops a crush on Kiri. He chases after her and even has Kiri's picture as his cellphone's wallpaper. When he was in middle school, his parents owned a company called Alix Cosmetic Corporation that was, in his opinion, "doing well, even though it was not a well-known enterprise". He has an older sister and younger brother and all his family members wear glasses even his bird.
My Girl
Jinny is a famous model with those gorgeous long black hair but little does everyone knows that she is in fact actually Ahjin, a high schooler who has short hair, wears glasses and only does modelling for the sake of her uncle! Ahjin has a crush on Dohoon, one of the coolest guy in school. But when Ahjin (dressed up as Jinny) found out that she'll be living in the same apartment as her crush, she's thrilled! But how can she keep her secret from Dohoon, whom he himself adores the model Jinny!?
I'll add more to this post later on! ~Promise, Jamie~

REVIEW: There's lots of slapstick, romance, and very emotional and dramatic. The mix really works. Theshow does not disappoint. At the back of this anime is a very strongstory. It's interesting, novel and i'm not going to risk spoiling it inany way. What's even cooler is that it begins to develop during the`lighter' early portions and the transition to a deeper and moreserious tone is brilliantly handled. Even better many of the events inthe early episodes make more and more sense as the story evolves. And it gets better the longer it goes on.
Itmanages to pack a LOT of story and subplots into 25 episodes -and-explain and resolve it all without rushing the pace or compromisingquality. It also leaves itself open just enough to continue the series,as it does in J Again and J to X (OVAs).
Thetrue triumph of Saber Marionette J is that it's built for itself afully fleshed-out world with three-dimensional characters who are veryreal.
Top-notch animation, involving story and memorable characters make this one of the greats.
Mamiya Otaru & Lime Lime: She is very naive and has a rough concept of life. Apparently, before Otaru awakened Lime, he had a dream about her.
Otaru: Thehero of the show. He's your typical 25th century boy living in Terra 2,Japones state. When he visits the Japones History Museum, his lifechanges. One of his unique properties is that he treats the marionetteslike other normal human beings.
left to right: Cherry, Lime, Mamiya Otaru, Bloodberry, Mitsurugi Hanagata
Cherry: Par excellance chef, very loving, and cute. Computer expert and inteligent (except when she's in love) and can fight as well.
Bloodberry: The most mature of Otaru's marionettes. She is very strong, (however,it decreases to a more reasonable level later on by Otaru). She knows alot about love.
Mitsurugi Hanagata Otaru's rich and spoiled friend. A self-proclaimed extra to the show, he constantly gets beat up.
El Hazard: The Wanderers (1995) Shinpi no Sekai El Hazard Note: This is an alternate universe tale based on the original El Hazard OAV series.
MakotoMizuhara, Nanami Jinnai and her brother Katsuhiko all attend the same high school. During the preparations for the school festival, a freakaccident involving one of Makoto's inventions, sends the three of themplus their history teacher, Mr. Fujisawa, through a portal into anotherworld - the magnificent world of El Hazard. Here they discover thateach one of them has a special ability that helps them on theiradventure. An adventure that involves an all out war with an enemycalled the Bugrom, a race of giant cockroach like creatures and their beautiful Queen - Diva, who have taken Katsuhiko as their general.
There's fun, comedy, romance and some of the strangestbattle scenes you will ever witness. El Hazard: The Wanderers is analternate telling of El Hazard: The Magnificent World.

It'sa sweet, funny, interesting, colorful series. All of the characters are appealing in their own particular ways. And The series isn't very serious (hyuck, hyuck), it's a light-weight, fun show. The animation is beautiful with defined colours and different locations adds to theimagination, it's the alternate world after all. It'san escapism anime, 26 episodes of pure fun and enjoyment, that doesn't involve thinking too hard, has a sweet romantic eliment, an "evil" villian in the guise of Jinnai. If you just want to sit back and enjoy something for the sake of it, then this will do the job nicely!
